成为中大史上首篇《科学》论文
中山大学生命科学学院贺雄雷教授领导的课题组，在研究染色质结构如何调节DNA突变工作中取得重要进展，其研究成果以论文形式发表在3月9日的《科学》杂志上。这是中大史上首篇以第一单位在《科学》杂志发表的论文。尤为引人注意的是，不到30岁的贺雄雷2007年到中大任教时是该校当时最年轻的教授和博士生导师之一。他的学士、硕士学位皆在中大获得，可以说是中大自己培养的优秀学生。
