研究概况研究兴趣主要集中在自然语言处理、文献挖掘、情感分析、社交数据挖掘，机器学习理论与应用。相关成果发表在ACL、IJCAI、AAAI、COLING、NA-ACL、ICDM、CIKM、PAKDD等国际会议及Knowledge and Information System、Genome Biology、Bioinformatics、BMC Bioinformatics等期刊上。作为PC成员或领域主席，已服务于ACL, EACL, COLING, EMNLP (领域主席), NAACL, CIKM, ICDM等国际会议，作为期刊BMC bioinformatics的副编委, Bioinformatics, Knowledge-based Systems, TALIP的审稿人。
研究小组曾多次参加信息处理领域的国际评测TREC/TAC，在多文档摘要、文本推理等任务上取得了国际领先成果。在多文档摘要方向上，提出了基于信息距离的摘要方法；同时还在观点排序、观点分类、多标签分类上提出了新的方法。开发了多个多文档摘要的算法，在多种场景下，授权给多个公司使用。在情感分析与评论挖掘方面进行了深入研究，在观点抽取、情感极性分类、观点摘要等多方面取得了大量成果，并开发了cReviewMiner的中文产品评论深度挖掘系统。
于2006年在德国汉堡大学进行了为期一个月的、关于认知科学的访问学习，并于2010年1月至7月在美国国家生物信息中心（NCBI）进行为期6个月的访问研究。2014年1月，应邀在新加坡国立大学进行了为期一月的访问。
